We hope everyone had a joyful and healthy holiday season with their loved ones! This month pre-k is continuing their thematic unit about winter. Students will discuss what they see in winter, activities they do in winter, and the clothing they wear. After, students will learn how animals survive during the season. Specifically, students will read about hibernation and migration. They will learn which animals hibernate during winter and which do not hibernate. Finally, students will learn about shadows and discover how they are made and how they change over time. Students will explore making shadows using flashlights.
In math, students will continue to practice counting objects and answering the question “How many? And How do you know” After, students will practice comparing amounts by learning the concepts of more than and less than. In FUNdations, pre-k students will learn proper letter formation when writing. They will begin by writing lowercase letters and move onto uppercase letters later in the year. Students will continue to review letter sounds and will begin identifying words that begin with known letter sounds. We wish everyone a happy and healthy new year in 2020!
